"perhaps thin people are the ones who are abnormal" - Theodore Van Itallie, a noted obesity researcher.
Why?
This is linked to Darwin's Theory - Survival of the fittest. Like 40,000 yrs ago, "feast and famine" cycles were common. So those people that are able to store more energy have an advantage in survival compared to those that cannot. Energy is stored as body fat. Therefore people who are fatter have a selective advantage, and they are selected by nature to survive and pass on their favourable trait. Now, I conclude that thin people did not evolve correctly. They are mutants.
